LRR 217:
Ruck of the Irish
Down at Langley Events Centre, we had the second round of WXV 1, as Canada faced Ireland for only the 4th time in womne’s rugby history!
Resolute defence by both teams kept the scoring to a minimum, until indiscipline crept into the Irish side. One yellow card quickly became 2, and by the time Ireland returned to full strength, Canada had 3 tries to their side. In the second half, Ireland held strong, as Canadian opportunities went begging, but Ireland were unable to launch a comeback, as Canada held on to win 21-8. We now have a winner-takes-all scenario, as Canada face England for the WXV 1 title.
Then, the lads discuss the latest World Rugby law changes going to a council vote. Shorter time to kick a conversion? Shorter prep time for lineouts & scrums? 20 minute red cards? What do you make of all this?
